he'll want to spread it himself. Which means he'll put jelly and both sides of the toast and when he eats it, he'll look like this . . .

So Big!
The other night Matt and I were talking about how he’s growing up to be big and some day he’ll be bigger than mom, Grandma Liz, Cousin Maddie, maybe bigger than dad and then he said – “Bigger than Brett Favre?”
Speaking of Brett Favre – now that he plays for the Vikings, Matt keeps reminding me that Brett Favre plays for his team not mom’s team. Ouch!

Here Kitty Kitty . . .
The boys were helping do "chores" this past weekend during our visit to the farm. The highlight for Matt was feeding the cats - too bad they are all wild and won't let us pet them. Enjoy!

Outsmarted
So last night Drew and I are reading stories and I noticed he was picking his nose - gross I know. So instead of just telling him to stop I thought I would elevate the "warning". So I told him that he shouldn't pick his nose because if his finger got stuck then he couldn't play with his trains. He quickly replied that he'd have his other hand free. I've been outsmarted by my 4 year old.

We've Got Another Seamstress in the Family
Recently while Drew was getting himself dressed he decided to alter one of his shirts (brand new still had the tags on it mind you). It was originally a long-sleeved shirt that was made to look like 2 layered shirts, one short-sleeved over a long-sleeved. Well he took it upon himself to cut the long-sleeves off to make it a short-sleeve. I have to admit it was pretty funny, but still disappointing.

Momma Matt - #2
While getting ready for bed tonight, Matt decided that he needed to tuck his beloved "Tiggy" (a striped dinosaur) into bed. So Tiggy got his own blankie, but not before Tiggy needed a diaper put on, which Matt started to attempt all on his own and I helped him finish. There are now both fast asleep in his bed together. So sweet!
Momma Matt
Matt's a good mommy to his babies as you can clearly see from this video. Here he is putting is babies down for a nap.

I want to go to school!
Being a little brother can be hard at times, you want to do all the things your big bro does but sometimes you aren't big enough or old enough. Today was one of those days. Matt really wanted to go to school today too. So we pretended he was going to school, so we took Drew's bag from last year, took the "first day of school" picture, then dropped Drew off. We've been home for 30 mins and Matt is still pouting. Before we know it his time will come and it will be his turn to go too. Boy does time fly!
First Day of School - 2009
Today was Drew's first day of preschool. He was soooo excited, something tells me that Kindergarten will be much harder for some of us than it is for others next year. Drew is VERY proud of his decorated bag. I think he used every marker we had in the house to make the rainbow and then he picked out the letters that spell his name, plus the number 4 (his age) and the numbers for our phone number are all on his bag (plus a few others). This bag makes me smile!

Look Mom - No Training Wheels!
Drew was officially riding a bike without training wheels earlier this summer and has now perfected it. You can see him here riding in circles in our driveway. Here is the proof.
Fair Fun!
Growing up, I spent a week during each summer basically living at our county fair. The animals, 4-H projects and food are all fond memories. So each summer I try to get the boys to our local fair for a day, this year was no exception. Last week, we spent some time at the fair seeing the animals (and tractors), walking through the buildings and of course had some mini-donuts. Yum! Drew also talked me into riding a few ride. I think Matt actually enjoyed the Ferris Wheel more than Drew did - but he probably wouldn't admit to it. The smiles on their faces says it all!

I'm Outta Here!
Overnight, several thunderstorms rolled through our area waking the boys up. At one point everyone was in our bed for a little added security. We put both boys back to bed then another storm rolled through a bit later. At that point Matt was standing at my bedside with his backpack filled with an extra blanket. I guess he thought he was moving in for the rest of the night. It was adorable!

FINALLY!!!
Yes, the moment that I've been waiting so long for has finally arrived. I think it is safe to say that Drew is potty and poop trained. It has been a long time coming. A few weeks ago we told him that when his pull-ups ran out he would have to start going on the potty, it wasn't without a few accidents, but we've been accident free for 2 weeks. I'm sure there will be more, but what a relief. I'll be sure to use this to embarrass him much later in life as my pay back. : )

How Cold Was It???
Here Matt is showing us how he was shivering cold after getting out of the pool earlier in the day. It is much funnier in person, but you get the drift.

The Magic of Mickey Mouse
At first Matt wasn't overly crazy about the oversized cartoon characters, but after a few days into our vacation Matt grew to love the mouse and was pretty excited as he approached our table, check it out.

Here We Go!
This afternoon while visiting the bathroom as a family, Drew said to me, "Mom, where is your pee pee? Is it hiding in your butt?" Needless to say, I had all I could do to keep a straight face and say, "no it isn't hiding in my butt, but I'm a girl and we have different pee pees than boys do." Hopefully that answer will sufice for awhile.

Ball Boy
Matt LOVES balls, as you can see from this video he can spend a good chunk of time entertaining himself with a ball or two.

Before and After
At Drew's preschool conference a few weeks ago, his teacher shared these two pieces of art with me. The one on the top is a drawing of himself on the first day of school (must have been a crazy morning that day) and the other is a drawing of him at school this spring. I'm sure you can clearly see his head and body parts in the drawing. Pretty cool to see the progress made in just a short 6 months.

Boy Sounds
Boys make a lot of noises and I'm not referring to the bodily ones (at least not yet). They pretend they are cars or trucks, dogs or monsters. On this day, they were pretending to be race cars and were doing laps around the house.

Master Negotiator
While on a recent trip to Cub Foods (local grocery chain) Drew announces that he'll be getting a donut as a treat then also adds that he'll also be getting a movie. I remind him that he can only get one treat so he has to pick between the donut at the begining of the store or the movie rental near the check out. I tell him to think about which one he would rather have. After a moment of silence he announces "I have an idea, how about I get a a donut and Matt gets a movie?". Pretty smart thinking, but wasn't allowed, so Drew settled with a donut and Matt got a cookie.

As if the economy isn't bad enough . . .
Drew flushed approximately $20 from his piggy bank down the toilet tonight. I was able to "rescue" $4 and tried to plunge the rest, but was unsuccessful. Needless to say we'll be taking a trip to the bank later this week to learn more about "saving".

Laughter IS the best medicine.
It is amazing how the simpliest things can make the boys laugh so hard. Watching and listening to them laugh like this is theraputic. Enjoy!

Don't take out the trash.
Drew has decided that he needs a sister and when asked what about his brother he simply replied, "we'll just throw him in the trash." Poor Matt - don't worry bud - we'll keep you.
